This blog will share how Autoliv supports their commitment to automotive safety by better engaging their workforce.

Key Behaviors and Cultural Shifts

Autoliv demonstrates the values of modern workforce leadership by focusing on empathy and responsiveness to employee needs. However, reaching deskless employees without company emails or access to digital communication tools presented a significant challenge. Autoliv needed a comprehensive workforce solution to support every employee, especially frontline workers. Kya understood “it’s easy to reach those with company emails, but reaching every employee is a challenge.”

Recognising the diverse needs of its global workforce, Autoliv has invested in employee management software that facilitates seamless interaction and information exchange. This encourages alignment and support across all sites, departments, and teams.

This emphasis is evident in Autoliv’s strategic decision-making process, which always considers the needs and perspectives of these essential workers.

How Improving Workforce Engagement Enhanced Autoliv’s Efficiency

Similarly central to Autoliv’s operational success is its focus on employee engagement and well-being. This approach ensures that every employee, from frontline staff to remote office workers, is actively involved in the company’s mission. By emphasising employee engagement, Autoliv boosts productivity and instills a sense of ownership and value among its team members. This process starts by addressing the employee experience needs of Autoliv’s team.

Before adopting a comprehensive workforce management solution, Autoliv faced significant issues with its timekeeping system, with a major challenge stemming from inefficient time off requests. Most frontline employees lacked access to digital tools and had to submit paper forms, causing delays and administrative burdens.

Autoliv streamlined its time off request process using workforce management software to address these inefficiencies. The initiative aimed to standardise the process across all U.S. locations of the company, ensuring that every team lead could review and approve requests uniformly. This move not only automated the approval workflow but also eliminated time-consuming, error-prone paper forms.

By integrating WorkForce Software, Autoliv achieved:

  • Time Savings: The new process saved approximately 20 minutes per vacation report, totaling around 2 hours of saved administrative time daily.
  • Modernised Time Capture: Using existing timeclocks and simplifying the time capture process provided a seamless experience for employees, reducing errors and manual workloads.
  • Standardised Time Approvals: Standardising the approval process across multiple locations ensured consistency and compliance with company policies.

The streamlined time off request process is one example of how the company leverages workforce technologies to create a supportive workplace environment. By prioritising such innovative solutions, Autoliv ensures that employees are empowered to manage their time effectively, which in turn fosters higher job satisfaction and productivity.

Cultivating a Collaborative Environment

The new process also highlighted the importance of adaptability within Autoliv’s organisational culture. The shift from a paper-based system to a digital one required flexibility and a willingness to embrace change.

Autoliv’s workforce demonstrated resilience and responsiveness, adapting to new workflows, and leveraging the capabilities of WorkForce Software to enhance their daily operations. This adaptability further reinforced the company’s commitment to continuous improvement and operational excellence.

By embedding these key behaviors into its operational strategy, Autoliv has successfully utilised WorkForce Software to transform its time off request process. This cultural shift not only improved efficiency but also engaged employees, fostering a more supportive workplace. Through curiosity, value addition, collaboration, effective communication, and adaptability, Autoliv continues to cultivate a culture that prioritises employee well-being and drives organisational success.

In the past, departmental silos limited effective collaboration within Autoliv. HR, payroll, IT, and operations often operated independently, pulling in other departments only when necessary. WorkForce Software’s integrated solutions have played a crucial role in breaking down these silos, facilitating improved interdepartmental cooperation.

“We’ve developed strong connections between HR, payroll, IT, and Finance. This has made it much easier to collaborate and align our goals towards achieving common objectives.”

Autoliv’s partnership with WorkForce Software underscores its commitment to operational excellence and employee engagement. By addressing specific workforce management challenges, Autoliv created a more efficient, compliant, and supportive workplace. This initiative reflects how modern workforce solutions can transform traditional processes, benefiting both the organisation and its employees.
